Fingo

“We chose to work with deidei as they had been recommended to us by our member organizations. In our initial meetings and based on their proposal, we had full confidence in their expertise and professionalism. ” Ilmari Nalbantoglu, Director of Advocacy, Fingo

High Ambition and Motivation As Key Drivers

From the start, it was clear Fingo wasn’t looking for a checkbox exercise – they wanted to anchor equity more firmly in their core operations and ways of working. Their ambition was to go beyond the legally mandated equality and non-discrimination planning and ensure that equity is not only a strategic priority but becomes a lived reality across the organization.

Assessment Focus: From Everyday Practices to Strategic Capabilities

Fingo’s objective for the assessment was two-fold:

  • Internally: to map how equity is experienced in daily practices, processes, and staff culture.

  • Strategically: to understand the organization’s skills, capabilities, and readiness to advance equity more intentionally in the future.

To build a comprehensive picture, we combined several tailored methods: a customized internal survey capturing broad staff perspectives, in-depth interviews with board members, executives, and internal experts, and an audit of key materials and processes. This ensured the results reflected both everyday realities and long-term ambitions.

“We could rely on deidei to manage our initiative with required sensitivity. Deidei ensured that they understood our needs and context and were flexible and determined to modify tools to meet our needs without endangering the integrity of the exercise.”, Nalbantoglu continues.

From Findings to Next Steps

“Everything about working with deidei ensured the smooth advancement of the exercise. Meetings with deidei colleagues were always well-prepared, and all the promised outputs were delivered in a clear and timely manner.”

The assessment gave Fingo a clear view of its current strengths and development areas in equity. It revealed how these themes show up in day-to-day work, where more consistent practices are needed, and what the organization’s existing strategic capabilities are. In addition to these insights, Fingo received concrete, actionable recommendations to support both immediate improvements and longer-term development. Together, these results create a strong foundation for embedding equity even more deeply into Fingo’s strategy, operations, and future direction.

“This collaboration revitalized Fingo's efforts to bring equity more centrally into core operations and ways of working. We now understand our strengths and challenges better and have concrete recommendations from which we can draw on to decide on the next steps. Most importantly, we have the confidence to move forward and make needed changes.”, Nalbantoglu sums up.
