Metacore
Multi-Year Training Collaboration with One of the Fastest-Growing Game Companies in Europe
Inclusion Strategy

Metacore is a Helsinki-based game company where players are the closest thing to a boss. Metacore's mission is to entertain hundreds of millions of people for decades – through their games, but also through their ads, events, and online communities. The company’s hit game, Merge Mansion, has over 40 million fans across the globe.
In 2022, Metacore took a more proactive approach to advancing DEI, aiming to ensure everyone understands the role of diversity, equity, and inclusion at Metacore as the company continues to grow – and that’s when they contacted deidei. Since then, our partnership has evolved into a multi-year learning and development collaboration grounded in a strategic foundation.

“We have been growing tremendously during the past year, and felt like it’s the right time to kick-off a more strategic DEI journey. Our goal is to create games for large, diverse audiences and to be able to do that, we need diverse teams and to ensure a safe and inclusive working environment for everyone.” Mika Tammenkoski CEO & Co-founder at Metacore
“We wanted to utilize external expertise to kick off our DEI journey, and from the get-go, deidei felt like the ideal partner for us. deidei’s knowledge and experience in the tech and games industry, as well as their practical approach in anchoring the DEI work directly to our business and ways of working, impressed us.” Anna Kaskeala-Moore COO at Metacore

From Strategy to Skills: Growing Inclusion Skills Across the Company
Our first joint DEI project kicked off in October 2022. We began our collaboration with our Strategic Approach to DEI, creating a tailored framework and clarifying why advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion is crucial for Metacore – and how it connects to their People and Business fundamentals.
The next step was to strengthen the entire Metacore team's inclusion and diversity skills while introducing the newly developed approach company-wide. In 2023, we began delivering on-site Fundamentals of DEI training to all employees. As Metacore has continued to grow at an impressive pace, our training collaboration has evolved, extending to the company’s new office in Berlin and expanding into an ongoing series of 10+ sessions from 2023 to 2025 to ensure every new employee is also included.
So, what have we done so far?
🔹 Built a strategic DEI Approach to clarify and communicate the role of diversity, equity, and inclusion in Metacore's business and culture
🔹 Trained all Metacoreans about the fundamentals of diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout 2023–2025
🔹 Trained the Metacore team about Neurodiversity at Work
🔹 Supported Metacore’s people team with inclusion consulting regarding, for example, pulse surveys and ERG building

“Our collaboration with deidei has been remarkably seamless. Together, we have established a strong foundation for our future DEI efforts, complete with actionable next steps. deidei’s ways of working and communicating are highly appreciated. At Metacore, we talk a lot about the importance of creating safe spaces, and that is exactly how deidei has made our collaboration feel like, too.” Maria Törnroos Wellbeing & Performance Lead at Metacore
