Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian organization that advances children’s rights and equality for girls. deidei has worked as Plan International Finland's trusted partner in diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism since 2021.
Starting point: data-driven and strategic development
Back in 2021, equity and anti-racism became a key strategic focus for Plan International Finland. To integrate these themes into their daily operations, we partnered on our first joint project that included:
1. Conducting an Organizational Equity Assessment
2. Developing an Equity & Anti-Racism Roadmap
3. Collaborating on Learning and Development focused on equity and anti-racism.
Following the first project, deidei has continued to partner with Plan International Finland, providing ongoing consulting support. But what does this look like in practice?

Supporting Plan’s Marketing & Communications Operations
deidei supports Plan’s marketing & communications, such as marketing and communications planning, campaigns, concepts, marketing materials, and events from planning to execution on a quarterly basis.

Tyttösponssi-concept

We consulted Plan’s key campaign terminology, ensuring the language aligned with the campaign's inclusion goals. We also advised on the campaign video concept, offering insights to prevent potential stereotyping.

We collaborated to refine the updated creative campaign concept, focusing on clarifying core messages from an anti-racist and inclusion perspective. Our consultation ensured the visuals and copy avoided narratives that could perpetuate harmful stereotypes in the context of development cooperation.

Menkkapäivä

For the Menkkapäivä campaign, we collaborated with Plan to address period shame and discrimination. We emphasized inclusive language to reflect the diversity of menstruating individuals while acknowledging girlhood. Additionally, we suggested choosing influencers from an allyship perspective to promote the campaign. This helps mitigate period shame and ensures the responsibility of bringing visibility to the issue doesn’t fall solely on those who menstruate.

Nuorten Timantti

We consulted on the script for a nationwide Nuorten Timantti event so the content explained key concepts of equity and anti-racism in an accessible way to 13–18-year-old students to encourage empathy and action.

We consulted Plan to ensure the competition nomination instructions encouraged participants from diverse backgrounds to apply. Attention was paid especially to LBTQIA+, disability, and language inclusion.

Case example: Influencer Collaboration – Content Trip to Zimbabwe
Last fall, Plan reached out to deidei for support in organizing an influencer trip to Zimbabwe. The goal of the trip was to bring more visibility to Plan International’s work and development projects, supported by the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Plan International Finland donors – while transparently showcasing the impact of Tyttösponssi donations through the My Body, My Future project in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe.
During the trip, three Finnish influencers collaborated with children and youth from Amplifying Girls' Voices, a local activist group involved in Zimbabwe's My Body, My Future project. Together, they created and shared content to raise awareness about Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), giving visibility to the work for Finnish audiences.
deidei collaborated with Plan International Finland throughout the project, contributing to concept creation, core message development, influencer recruitment, content sparring, and communication support for campaign launch. We also created a tangible anti-racist content creation toolkit to support the social media influencers plan and create sustainable, inclusive content.
