Learning & Development | Consulting

Audiovisual Producers Finland – APFI is the association for Finnish content producers in the film and television industry.  It advocates for the interests of audiovisual production companies, supports internationalization, promotes sustainable practices, and organises key industry events and competitions. APFI’s 110+ members include companies from television, film, advertising, and technical production and service providers across the audiovisual sector.

We partnered up with APFI for their Avaus Sustainability Project, which is a two-year sustainability project funded by the EU and the Ministry of Education and Culture, aimed at developing sustainability within Finland’s audiovisual industry.

“We were looking for a partner to help us plan and implement a wide range of activities related to inclusion, equity and diversity in the audiovisual field.

deidei particularly impressed us with their high level of customization and attention to detail during the quotation phase.”

Roosa Tikanoja

Sustainable Development Project Manager, APFI

Our collaboration included two tracks:

1. Comprehensive Harassment Prevention and Response learning & development program

2. Hands-on operational consulting and development on chosen project outcomes

“With deidei's help, we were able to create and test new, hands-on learning concepts that directly address the needs we've identified companies and individuals in the industry have.

As one of our project's core challenges was ensuring strong industry relevance, it was especially valuable to have a partner who could both lead parts of the design process and provide hands-on support, consulting and delivery to our project where needed.” Tikanoja continues.

Harassment Prevention and Response Capability Building

The first phase of our collaboration focused on a comprehensive learning and development program for both employers and designated harassment contact persons in the audiovisual field. This pilot program consisted of three targeted modules, blending theoretical insights, practical tools, and peer-based learning to elevate the learning outcomes.

Module 1: Preventing and addressing harassment

The first module focused on building fundamental level knowledge and capabilities about preventing, recognizing, and addressing harassment.

Module 2: Building mediation capabilities for harassment contact persons

The second module focused on developing practical skills in mediation and providing clear processes for possible harassment contact persons.

Module 3: Building and maintaining safer spaces

The third module focused on practical tools and outcomes for building and maintaining safer spaces and was aimed at leaders and employers.

“Collaborating with deidei was smooth and flexible. Even as the Avaus project comes to a close, we’re confident that the resources and hands-on tools we’ve developed together will continue to support the advancement of equality and inclusion in our industry.” Tikanoja sums up.

Hands-On Operational Consulting on Chosen Project Outcomes

The second phase and part of our collaboration consisted of hands-on operational consulting from planning to execution. Here are some examples of what we did:

  • Provided input to shape the content of their industry report

  • Co-developed industry-wide guidelines for inclusive recruitment and onboarding practices

  • Created a bias checklist for recruiting

  • Led the learning design and contributed to the full development of content and exercises for their publicly available eLearning course.
